The Media

For this blog post, I will be analyzing the chart above from the American Press Institute, which provides statistics about opinions regarding "the news media" and "the news media you use the most often". In this chart, there are three different demographics from which data is provided, which are: Democrats, Independents and Republicans. One of the major trends in this chart is that Democrats are more likely to have positive opinions regarding "the news media", while Republicans are more likely to have negative opinions. As you can see in the graph, Democrats have the highest percentages, an average of 43.25% among all categories regarding "the news media", while Republicans have the lowest, at an average of 13.25%. Another major trend in this chart is that all demographics think more positively about "the news media you use the most often". What is a Political Party?

A political party is, "an association, committee, or organization which nominates a candidate for election to any Federal office whose name appears on the election ballot as the candidate of such association, committee, or organization"(1). Political parties have been an essential part of U.S. politics, as they help differentiate the diverse political views within our country. The two most prodigious political parties in U.S. politics have been the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. These parties are: the Vermont Progressive party, Libertarian Party, Green Party, Working Families Party, Independence Party of New York, and Independent (3). Each politi...

You might ask, "what even is an interest group?" Well, Interest groups are a platform for a group people to represent shared political views and beliefs. Examples of some different interest groups are: the NRA, the American Federation of Teachers, and the National Farmers Union. Each of these interest groups hold different opinions and beliefs, but the people belonging to each interest group share common ideologies. The interest group that I decided to research today is Greenpeace. Greenpeace is a prominent environmental organization founded in 1971 that aims to create a more environmentally conscious world. Its headquarters are located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and has more than 15,000 volunteers worldwide. Below is a screenshot from Greenpeace's "What We Do"...

Introduction

Who am I? Hello future senators, SCOTUS justices, and presidents; my name is Christian. I am a high school senior from Seattle, Washington. Today, I’ll be writing about my personal political views and opinions, opposing political opinions, and how I believe my political views were shaped. What are my beliefs? Based on my results from a  political typology survey by the Pew Research Center , I am a  Disaffected Democrat . I wasn't surprised, as Disaffected Democrats are mostly minorities who lean towards the Democratic party, with 56% of them being non-white.     The political typology group Core Conservatives  is what I will be comparing my own group to.  Disaffected Democrats hold many strong liberal beliefs. For example, they believe that business corporations make too much profit. This is a liberal view, as liberals believe that there should be restrictions put on business corporations, in order to prevent businesses from be...
